A new and improved experience for travel advisors

We’ve spent the last few months putting together an improved experience for our travel advisor community – and we’re excited to finally share it with you! While the booking experience will remain unchanged, we’ve made updates to enhance the administrative side of things.

So what’s new?

A new experience to manage your account

Now, both agency hosts/admins and travel advisors will manage their accounts in our newly updated and redesigned interface. Advisors will continue to make bookings on travelagents.viator.com. All administrative tasks, such as managing bookings, viewing commission payout information, etc. will be done directly in your account.

You will use Tripadvisor to log into your account

Advisors will be using Tripadvisor login credentials. If they do not have a Tripadvisor account, they will need to create one. The Tripadvisor login feature is more robust and well-maintained throughout our organization, resulting in less login issues for you

There are new account roles (admin and agent role)

There are now two defined roles a user can have: admin or agent. We’ve put together a high-level comparison below:

More payout methods accepted

Agencies are now able to be paid out via a direct bank transfer, PayPal, or Payoneer. Adding, removing, or editing payout details can only be done by those with the admin role.

Easier ways to manage bookings

We’ve added in more functionality to manage your bookings. Now, advisors can add or remove travelers from the itinerary, change travel dates, cancel bookings, and more directly from their account without having to call our customer support team. See more information here.

“Claim my booking” tool

Advisors now have the ability to claim any booking made with their email address by using the booking reference number. For more information on that tool, see here our how-to-guide here.

New languages added!

The administrative tool hosts/admins and advisors use will now be available in the following languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and Italian.

Easier ways to invite agents to join an agency account

We now have three self-service ways for hosts/admins to invite advisors to join their accounts. To learn more about them, see this guide

Partner ID and User IDs

Every agency will be assigned a new ID and every advisor within that agency will be assigned a new ID. The ID the agency has is the “Partner ID” and the ID the advisor has is the “User ID.” What’s not changing is the fact that advisors can still use their old IDs to join an agency or when communicating with our customer support team. See more info about updated IDs here.

What’s staying the same?

The process for booking products

Advisors will continue to use travelagents.viator.com to make bookings and earn commission.

All of your bookable links will continue to work

Although you will have a new bookable link URL, all of your old links will continue to work and yield commission. We know that many advisors have embedded bookable links throughout their marketing materials and these will continue to work without the need to update. This also applies to widgets.

The client experience

Clients will continue to receive email confirmations, will be able to make bookings on their own from your bookable links/widgets, and will still have access to the same client support resources they’re used to.

You will not need to update your payout details

We will securely copy over your payout information so there will be no disruptions to your payouts.

Is there anything I need to do?

Yes – we encourage you to log into your new account as soon as possible!

Even while many of us are waiting for travel to resume, it’s best that you log into your account now so that you’re ready for when clients are ready to travel again. Here’s how to log into your new account:

Step 1:

Go to travelagents.viator.com to log in as you normally would.

Step 2:

After you log in, go to the drop down and (a) select “Manage account.” When you do, (b) you’ll see this popup. Hit “Continue” to proceed.

Step 3:

Create a new password. We’ll automatically check if your email address is associated with a Tripadvisor account. If you don’t have a Tripadvisor account using the email listed on your account, you’ll need to create one in order to proceed. If you have a Tripadvisor account already, you can proceed to Step 4.
